FJWU Pindi Admission 2011/2012

Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, has admissions open for female candidates only to M.Phil. leading to Ph.D./Ph.D.

FJWU has a Ph.D. program, consistent with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) M.Phil. leading to Ph.D./Ph.D. criteria/requirement. It is a program requiring full time student enrollment for course work.

For admission in M.Phil. leading to Ph.D., applicants are required to have:
Minimum of first division in Masters/BS 4-years from any HEC recognized university. (In English second division in Masters is acceptable, as per HEC ruling).

A subject test conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) or ETS, USA in the area of specialization chosen at the Ph.D. level must be cleared prior to admission for the Ph.D. program
In the case of GAT subject test, a minimum of 50% marks are required to pass the test.

The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Government of Pakistan, has assigned the task of conducting the GRE (Local) Subject Wise test to the National Testing Service (NTS) for the Subject Scholarships.

Applications are invited for study abroad under the Cultural Exchange Scholarships program for the year 2012 for Master’s and Ph.D. studies in various subjects. The scholarships are expected from China, Turkey, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Mexico, Greece, Russia , South Korea, Italy. These scholarships are fully-funded as the donor countries provide tuition fee, accommodation and monthly living allowance, which varies from country to country.

Eligibility Criteria

Attested copies of each supporting documents (Matriculation onward) including domicile certificate must be sent with the application. The professional degree holder B.Sc. Engineering/MBBS, B.Sc. (Honors) Agriculture should submit detailed marks certificate of each year.
The scholarships are awarded on merit determined on the basis of NTS test score, observing provincial/regional quota.
The candidates will have to take language course of the respective country (if applicable).
Students awaiting result are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply
Candidates are required to send their applications on prescribed Application Form along with an online deposit slip (in original) at NTS Headquarters, Islamabad.
Please deposit test fee through the prescribed deposit slip at the online branches of ABL, UBL, HBL or MCB.
Deposited amount is non-refundable / non-transferable.

LAHORE; Sunday, November 06, 2011: The City School (Central Region) organised a Halloween-themed Bake Sale/Carnival – Sharnival 2011 at its Shalimar Campus in connection with the recently introduced student development programmes, “The City-zenship Programme” and “Youth Leadership Programme”.
The event was aimed at providing the students with a platform where they could test their entrepreneurial skills; extract maximum returns from minimum investment and to raise funds for a cause.
The students and programme coordinators had been busy with the carnival’s preparations for a long time. The students were seen to be really excited and each one had dressed up in a unique halloween costume.
A fancy dress show and a dance competition had also been arranged for the junior classes, thereby, giving them a platform to discover and showcase their talents.
The students also actively participated in the bake sale which was being supervised by the teachers.
The event fulfilled its aim of providing a stage to the students where they could express themselves in an effective manner. It also proved to be a healthy break for students and a podium to test their entrepreneurial skills.

16th Master Trainers-Faculty Professional Development Programme (MT-FPDP)

Islamabad The 16th Master Trainers-Faculty Professional Development Programme (MT-FPDP), organised by the Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission, concluded at the HEC Secretariat on Thursday.

As many as 28 faculty members of 21 public sector universities from across Pakistan, participated in the programme. So far, 469 faculty members have benefited from MT-FPDP in 16 batches.

This rigorous training programme, designed specifically for in-service teachers, includes 11 core modules and additional sessions on different important social topics. The main objective of the training is to enhance and enrich the teaching abilities of the faculty members to ensure quality education, which is entirely dependent on the quality ofteachers.


The programme aims to enable university teachers to use innovative teaching strategies and communication skills that blend academic concepts with workplace applications. Besides, the intensive training on different modules, some general topics were also covered by the resource persons.

Eminent scholars from across Pakistan conducted various sessions and highlighted basic features of different modules, including teaching as profession, academic planning, androgogical skills, testing and evaluation, research methodology and learner’s psychology. Additional sessions on citizenship, entrepreneurship and gender harassment policy were also arranged to amplify the exposure of participants. These master trainers will now replicate the similar training in their respective institutions.

The divisional heads of various divisions of HEC were also invited during the programmeas ‘Guest of the Dayd to brief the participants about functioning of their divisions. Recreational and study trips were also arranged to different historic places.The news. </

A press release said Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the moot while eminent scholar Prof Ahmad Rafiq Akhtar known as “Jogi” addressed students on the occasion.
