Peshawar, About 7,000 students appeared in admission test of University of Peshawar held under National Testing Service. Available seats are 2,000 in all of 43 departments of the university.

For the admission test, six centers (the Law College at UoP, University Public School, Agricultural University Peshawar, Brains Degree College, Khyber College of Management Sciences, Peshawar and Qurtaba Degree College) were assigned by the NTS and the students were divided to take tests in two days on Saturday and Sunday.

The test was inspected by the NTS staff; Dr. Hizbullah Khan and Director of NTS Tahir Aslam looked the all over progress of all centers. Students can check their result online on the official website of university within 72 hours after the test.

Aggregate will be made by the ratio of marks obtained in NTS and bachelor examination (40:60). Then merit list will be made by the departments. Date of displaying merit list will be given by the admission schedule and merit lists will be displayed at the respective departments of the university.

KPK Puts forward rules for standard of teachers

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, has said that the decision of the provincial cabinet regarding the management and teaching cadres in theelementary and secondaryeducation would be implemented in letter and spirit adding that the interests of all the stakeholders would be safeguarded.He said this while presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee regarding the management and teaching cadres in the elementary andsecondary education held here on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by Minister Education, Sardar Hussain Babak, Secretary Elementary Education, Mushtaq Jadoon and concerned officials of Finance, Law and, Establishment departments.The meeting discussed various aspects to bring improvement in the management and teaching cadres and took certain decisions in this regard. The Minister Information in his brief speech on the occasion termed incorrect and baseless the impression that the government was winding up the management cadre. He said that basic aim behind the introduction of reforms in the management and teaching cadres was to ensure provision of standard education.He added that the management cadre in the education department was introduced by the present government and had powers to completely wind up it but added that the government will not take any such decision which to affect any person from the either cadre.Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that there were certain technical problems in the present management cadre as a result of which the incumbents of this cadre had meager promotion opportunities. He added the reformation in elementary and secondary education was not aiming stability and firmness of any individual but rather of the institution so that standard education is ensured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Minister Education Sardar Hussain Babak on this occasion said that the present government was working for the implementation of long awaited service structure of teachersand district/provincial cadres for teachers including time scale package would very soon beannounced, he concluded. PESHAWAR Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah Monday said education was imperative for social change and development of a country and a prominent position among comity of nations could only be achieved by enhancing its standard to cater the modern days’ needs.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Government High Schoolat Landi Arbab, the Minister said the government was spending 230 million rupees on the construction of girls and boys degree colleges while 300 million rupees have been utilized for different public welfare developmental schemes in his constituency.


In addition to installation of 19 new transformers to resolve low voltage problem, he said work on installation of 20 transformers is also in progress to electrify the villages and towns.



He also announced sports goods and furniture for Government High SchoolLandi Arbab and urged students to participate in healthy extra curricular activities besides focusing on their education.

The ceremony was attending by former MPA, Muhammad Ibrahim Qasmi, President ANP Landi Arbab, Zahid Hussain, District Education Officer Iftikhar Khan and elders of the area. (APP)

POWERS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD

• Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Board shall have power to organise, regulate, develop and control Technical, Vocational, Industrial and Commercial Education.

• In particular and without prejudice to the generality of the power conferred by the preceding sub-section, the Board shall have the power to






a) hold and conduct all final examinations pertaining to Technical, Vocational, Industrial and Commercial Education below degree level and such other examinations as may be determined by Government.

b) prescribe courses of study for its examinations.

c) lay down conditions for recognition of institutions.

d) accord, refuse or withdraw recognition, wholly or partly, after considering inspection reports received from an Inspection Committee appointed by the Board in this behalf.

e) inspect and arrange or inspection of recognised institutions and call for inspection reports.

f) lay down conditions for admission to its examinations, to determine the eligibility of candidates and to admit them to the examinations.

g) grant certificates and diplomas to persons who have passed its examinations.

h) fix, demand and receive such fees as may be prescribed.

i) supervise the residence, health and discipline of students of recognised institutions and classes with a view to promoting their general welfare.

j) organize and promote extra-mural activities in and for recognised institutions.

k) institute and award scholarships, medals and prizes in accordance with the Regulations and Rules.

l) hold, control and administer its properly and funds.

m) enter into and carry out contracts in exercise of its duties under this Act and the Regulations.

n) pass the annual budget.

o) transfer any movable and immovable property.

p) hold and manage endowments.

q) regulate and decide all administrative matters, including the creation and abolition of posts; provided that it shall be lawful for the Chairman to create temporary posts for a period not exceeding six months.

r) appoint the staff and determine their duties and conditions of service.

s) make provisions for buildings, premises, furniture, apparatus, books and other means required for carrying out the purposes of this Act.

t) sanction such expenditure and to appoint such officers and staff as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Act and

u) do all other acts necessary for carrying out the purposes of this Act.





• The Board may delegate any of its powers to the Chairman or any officer of the Board or to a Committee or Sub-Committee appointed by it as it may deem fit.
