Students of AIOU, particularly the female ones, complained to this correspondent on Monday that for the first time their examinations were conducted in different halls located at different places. They also criticised the AIOU administration for poor arrangements at the examination centres.
A female student told Dawn her first paper was conducted in the examination hall at Islamia Collegiate Girls High School while for the second paper she had to go to the regional campus of AIOU Hayatabad. She went to the City Railway Station Girls High School Dalazak Road for the third paper and her fourth paper was conducted on Monday at Jugi Wara Girls High School, located in the interior city.
Another female student said her previous examination of PST was held at a singleexamination hall but this time she visited four schools in different localities.
An elder person, who waswaiting for her daughteroutside an examination hall, said he had to travel twice to each hall in the ongoingexamination — first to locate the school a day before theschedule date of paper and then on the day of theexamination with hisdaughter.
A superintendent at anexamination hall wishing not to be named said many girls’ students reached theexamination hall late because they took papers in different schools.An invigilator in examination hall at Government Higher Secondary School City No-3 said a few days back a student had almost solved his paper spending two hours when he came to know that his name was not enlisted in the attendance sheet.
When he saw his roll number slip, his first two and the last papers were mentioned to be held in GHHS City No-3 while the third one in the Government College Peshawar.
Regional Director AIOU, Hayatabad Campus, Maqbool Alahi was dumbfounded when the matter was brought in his notice. “I have been transferred a few days back as regional director and took the charge of the office on Saturday,” he said.
He said he would conduct inquiry into the matter and raise this issue with the controller examinations whose office was in Islamabad.
