The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Monday declared the results of FA/FSc Part-I annual examination for 2011, showing 39.64 pass percentage compared to last year`s 48.46.
According to the result notification, 124,702 candidates took the examination and 49,435 of them passed.
The low pass percentage is being attributed to the fact that the board declared the results without clearing thousands of results.
Sources said more than 6,000 results were still late, while board officials said a few hundred results were cleared after sending the result gazette for printing and before declaration of the results on Monday.
Also, some candidates complained that their marks in the result gazette were different than those on the result card uploaded on board`s website.
A number of candidates, who could not get their results online, reached board offices but they could neither get results nor access to officials concerned.
They demanded that the government take action against the computerisation consultant for the `flawed` results.
Talking to the media, Punjab education minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said a committee had been formed to look into late results and alleged misplacement of answer scripts.
