Punjab Board (New Result) Inter 2011

Lahore - Hearts are in the mouth of thousands of Intermediate students, as the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore will announce the much-awaited Intermediate-I Result today (Saturday) at 10am.
Earlier, the same result was cancelled due to unprecedented mistakes due to the online system and alleged negligence of former IT consultant Dr Majid Naeem. Around 124,000 candidates appeared in the exams and are consciously waiting for the result, as students who did not get accept their earlier results claimed that the rechecking has given a ray of hope to them. The Punjab CM had asked the BISE to recheck papers of all eight boards of Punjab within 45 days, whereas, the board staff did it within 30 days.
Some days ago, holding a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman apologised to parents and students for errors in the results. According to Mujtaba, other than the judicial commission another committee headed by the Punjab anti-corruption director was also carrying out investigation in this regard. He said that all those people who showed negligence and dishonesty had already removed from their posts. Various board officials, including former BISE chairman Akram Kashmiri, IT Consultant Dr Majid Naeem and secretary Mushtaq Tahir were already removed from their offices due to negligence.
Reportedly around 0.1 million mistakes were found in the exams and BISE Chairman Dr Allah Bakhsh had promised to announce error-free results this time around. He also congratulated the board staff and teachers who made rechecking possible within a month. The chairman said that rechecking was done manually. He said that it was not an easy task but accomplished with the grace of God.
Students throughout Punjab protested violently to convey their voice to the high-ups soon after announcement of results on October 17 but the most violent demonstration took place in Gujranwala where a large number of students set ablaze the BISE Office. Students holding placards and banners rampaged through the board office. They also blocked roads and then powerfully entered the main gate. Consequently the board’s important record was wasted.
Violent protests were also witnessed in the provincial metropolis where an angered mob of students blocked various arteries of the city, including Muslim Town Mor and Jail Road. Inter-II students also protested when thousands of students faced difficulties in getting admission into different varsities due to the late result (RL).
Students complained that they were shown absent in some of the subjects despite the fact they had attempted the papers. Hundreds of students also claimed their result was put on hold without any specific reason. Students hoped that the board administration will not disappoint them this time around and expressed satisfaction over proceedings of the judicial commission and hoped that the accused will be brought to book soon. All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association President Adeeb Javedani said that the online system was enforced without proper homework and the former BISE chairman was responsible for it. He blamed officers of the computer section, conduct branch, secretary branch and others. He asked that how hundreds of students, who applied for rechecking after spending thousands of rupees, got the marks which they deserved.
