The sources said that the IIUI students were visiting the Kallar Kahar Lake when five bandits armed with weapons held them hostage at gunpoint. “A group of seven students was sitting at a hill when five robbers attacked them with guns and looted all the valuables they had”, Mohammad Waseem, the Research Associate of Computer Scienceand Software Engineering Department told Dawn.
The victims said that the bandits took away two I-phones, two cameras, ten mobile phones, other valuables and cash from them. “Police can easily trace the I-phones through the trackers but they are not cooperating with us and using delaying tactics in taking action against the dacoits,” Mohammad Waqas, the organiser of the tour said. He said that due to the police
non-cooperation, they had to face a lot of problems.
“We are yet staying at police station (8:00pm) and pleading them for the registration of FIR but they are not ready to register it”, he maintained.
When contacted, SHO police station Kallar Kahar Riaz Hussain said that the police had registered the complaint of the victims and the FIR would be registered after verification of the incident. “We first verify the case then register the FIR”, he said and added that the police were acting according to the rules and regulations.Dawn </
